When you start planning your next work trip for your employees, it can quickly feel overwhelming. With so many destinations to choose from, how do you know which one is right? Do the places you’re considering tick all the boxes? Is it affordable? How long is the journey? Can they accommodate all your staff members? Is there enough to do in the location you are looking at? Finding the perfect balance between work and leisure is key to creating a trip that’s both productive and rewarding for your team.
One place which we want to put forward as a recommendation is Portugal. In most cases, it’s not too far to travel to, making it ideal for both short and extended stays. Once there, you’ll find plenty to do – from kayaking along the coastline and cycling through scenic countryside, to enjoying a walking holiday or even organising a spa break for everyone. Portugal offers a great mix of relaxation and activity, so your employees can recharge while also staying engaged and active.
To help give you some inspiration, we have put together a brief guide on three reasons why Portugal is a great place to take your employees.
Easy to get to
We mentioned it above as it’s a key reason why Portugal is great for an employee’s break away, and that is because it’s fairly easy to get to. Portugal is well connected with regular flights to Lisbon, Porto, and Faro from many major cities worldwide. Once you arrive in one of these airports, the transfers to your final destination are easy as well, making getting to your location stress-free (which is exactly what you want when going away). In a lot of instances, the flight isn’t very long either, meaning you don’t require a whole day to get there.
Diverse selection of activities to do
No matter which destination you choose within Portugal, you’ll find that the country offers just about everything. For your employees who enjoy walking, there are plenty of hikes. For your employees who consider themselves foodies, the restaurants are delicious, and for those who enjoy sports, you can play pretty much everything. You’ll quickly discover there’s something to suit every type of work trip.
Great climate throughout the year
Portugal enjoys mild weather with plenty of sunshine throughout the year, especially in the southern Algarve region. This makes it ideal for outdoor activities and ensures your employees can enjoy the destination no matter the season. If you want to visit when the weather is at its peak, then you should aim to book your work getaway between June and September – this is when it’s going to be nice and warm (perfect for a work beach break).
Choosing Portugal for your employees’ break away won’t be a mistake. Once you have been there, we are sure you will want to return – especially as it’s such a big country to visit.
