Anatomy of a House: Which Major Home Systems Does Your House Need

The difference between a house and a home is the systems in a home that make it comfortable and homey. By systems, we aren’t referring to painting, cupboards, and other cosmetic additions. Home systems instead refer to the additions that make the home both functional and comfortable. For a home to function, several systems must be in place. With so many home systems to choose from, it can get a bit confusing to determine which systems you need. With that in mind, here are the major systems that every home needs:

Temperature Control

Temperature control is one of the most important systems in the home and its importance varies in accordance with the local weather. Temperature control consists of air conditioners, thermostats, and other equipment that can help control the home’s temperature. Thanks to the advancements in science, temperature control systems are not automated and can be controlled with smartphones and other wireless devices. For those who live in colder regions, the important part of the temperature control system is the thermostat, whereas those who live in temperate regions will need an air conditioner. In the absence of technologically advanced temperature systems, fans and fireplaces can still serve. Once you are moving into a new house, it is important to ensure that some form of temperature control is present in the home.

Filtration

The next home system that you will need is a filtration system. You will need to ensure that the water flowing into your home is safe for use especially if you will be drinking it directly, or using it to cook. Either way, you will need to ensure that there is a filtration system in the house. To that end, you will need a reverse osmosis water filter. A reverse osmosis water filter is a commonly employed system in homes especially when you are dealing with high water pressure. The filtration system will ensure that all the water flowing into the home is of high quality and thus, make life easier.

Electrical System

It’s the 21st century and electricity is one of the most important systems in any home. Almost everything in the home runs on electricity. From televisions and computers to charging wireless devices, electricity is a key system in every home. There should already be an electrical system in place if you are moving to a new house, but you will need to inspect it and ensure it is up to code. You will also need to check the connections in your electric system to ensure that it is in order before installing your equipment and apparatus which require electricity. Once everything is fine on the electrical end, then you can proceed to move into your new home and install whatever you want.

Plumbing

It’s fair to say that you can’t have a house where there isn’t plumbing, one that is solid enough to meet your requirements. From showering to doing laundry and other daily ablutions, you will need a viable plumbing system. If you are moving into a new house, then there will already be a plumbing system in place. You may, however, need to work on it to ensure it can handle the requirements of your family. The larger your family, the more demand will be placed on your plumbing system. If on the other hand, you are building a new home, then you have greater control over installing the plumbing system. The most important thing is to ensure that the plumbing system can handle your daily requirements.

The systems listed above are the main systems that you need in a house and each one will come in handy at some point. The necessity of the systems is usually dependent on the homeowner, however, depending on your budget and priorities. It is possible to live without one or two of these systems comfortably, but having them present is sure to make your life easier.

Conclusion

When moving into or building a new house, it will require a few systems before it can be called a home. There are many systems you can add to your house to make it a home, and the choice is really down to preference. The systems listed above are the main systems that every home should have.
